This last week has been crazy but sooo much fun. It was the kind of week that reminds me what all the tough days are for. We spent most of last week prepping for our field trip to the aquarium. We read and watched video’s about most of the animals we would see on our trip and made several sea creature crafts to hang on the ceiling. The kids loved it! By the end of the week it was like our very own aquarium above us.
One of the the big things we worked on leading up to the trip was making sure my students knew what to expect the day of the trip. It’s a big change in their routine and I wanted them to know what the procedures and schedule would like then. We google mapped the aquarium and looked up pictures of the building to help everyone have an idea of what it would be like. I also made an adapted book about going on a trip and we read it every day for a week, counting down the days to our trip.
The book is pretty simple. It talks about how they need to behave on the bus, what to do when we get there and how we will get home. Also, because everyone knows lunch is the most important part of the day, it talks about where we will eat lunch.
It’s a quick way to prep for a trip and by the day of the trip my kids knew exactly what to do on the bus and at the aquarium.
